A 20 million-year-old subtropical forest
This book contains detailed text and photographs that describe the most important plant fossils identified in the Lesvos Petrified Forest until now. Including also descriptions of these plants’ modern relatives, the book helps the reader imagine the dense subtropical forest that was covering the Aegean area 20 million years ago. A short story of the evolution of plants on our planet is also given, whereas, in response to the finding of a large elephant-like animal fossil in the Lesvos Petrified Forest, a short story of the presence of elephant-like animals in Greece through the past 20 million years is closing the book.
The texts in this 64-pages book are given in English, German and Greek.
