UNESCO Global Geoparks and Earth heritage Management

UNESCO and the Global Geoparks Network in collaboration with the University of the Aegean-Department of Geography and the Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest/Lesvos Island UNESCO Global Geopark invite you to participate in the

International Intensive Course on UNESCO Global Geoparks

entitled: “UNESCO Global Geoparks & Earth heritage Management” on Lesvos Island, Greece.

Lectures will be given by Geoparks experts and academic staff with long experience on geoheritage and geodiversity management, sustainable tourism and Geoparks.

The course is open to Geoparks’ staff members with a degree in Geosciences, to PhD and Master students working on Geoparks, geotourism, geosites, geomorphosites and landscape topics, as well as to Geoscientists having a special interest on the topic.

The Course will be in hybrid format. 35 participants will be selected to attend the lectures and have the opportunity to participate in field training in Lesvos Island. Other participants will attend digitally the lectures and virtual field trips.

The selection of the 35 field participants will be based on the applications and CV’s and will support gender equality and the broader geographical representation.

Be one of the 35 privileged participants who will have the opportunity to participate in Earth heritage management activities in Lesvos!

Those who are interested in participating in the course are invited to send an application form accompanied by a short CV and an abstract (one page) of their presentation, which they will present during the Course.

Natural History Museum of the Petrified Forest of Lesvos, Sigri, Lesvos, Greece

Access: Transportation from Mytilene airport & Mytilene port by coaches will be arranged
